Southern Girl Can't Hang

If you, dear reader, are one of the ones that gets a kick out of me attempting to be a fashion blogger, then today is your lucky day! Second outfit post in one week. You’re welcome. To some, this may not seem like a big deal; but for a SAHM with a 2.5year old and a 16month old, me taking the time to put a little oomph into my appearance and deviate from my basic momiform is quite a feat, in my humble opinion.

Today the high in soda city is 46 degrees. NOT COOL, weather guy. I know there are many of you that are smiling to yourself and thinking “46 degrees is nothing.” And you’re probably right, I am being dramatic. But like I’ve said before, I am one of those weirdos that absolutely lives for the summertime. Warm weather, time at the beach, redneck activities at the river, fresh watermelon, cutoff shorts, flip-flops, long days, eating outside– those are my most favorite things. I am not cut out for cold temperatures. In fact, once the temperature dips below 70 degrees, I start unpacking all of my sweaters and outerwear. Girl can’t hang.

Also, I have a love-hate relationship with coats and really with any sort of outerwear in general. Yes I love the chicness of a blanket scarf and an oversized sweater. Yes I love my Uggs– even though they’re so not cute, in my opinion, but how can you hate shoes that make you feel like you’re walking on clouds? The answer? YOU CAN’T. But as cute as blanket scarves and fuzzy sweaters are, they make my neck sweat the second I step inside. I hate layering clothes because I feel like once I lose a layer, part of the outfit is lost. And then I get cold. Why can’t I just have my cake and eat it too? I can in the summertime, when I’m wearing a teeshirt and shorts. But not now when it’s too cold outside and too warm inside. Here we go with the dang first world problems again.

Onto my OOTD (outfit of the day). I am wearing a basic black tank and black leggings because I love black on black, and I love my momiform. It’s slimming and chic and perfect for this mom bod of mine.

My tennies are your basic Adidas superstars. I’m so loving this trend because a white tennis shoe is just classic and comfy– perfect for a momma that’s always running after a toddler or two. Athleisure is what this fad has been named apparently. Spot on for all of the ones who are like me that LOVE wearing workout clothes but LOATHE working out in them. This basic girl is a big fan.

The blanket scarf is from one of my favorite online boutiques. I have maybe 5 or 6 and am always adding to my collection. A girl can never have too many blanket scarves.

The leather jacket I’ve had for years, but these are seriously a dime a dozen. You can find them almost anywhere, but some good places to check are here and here.

In other news, I’m so happy that it’s sunny today and the hubs happened to get off early, so I think we’re all going to head out to the river to visit our sweet baby James and see how our little magnolia tree is handling this cold weather.
