Blogging Update

Spread the love

I have been seriously slacking this week on the blogging front, but I will make it up to y’all soon! I’ve been getting a ton of questions from everyone and their mother about how to start a blog– and more specifically how to get brands to reach out to you. I’m going to let y’all in on a little secret. Out of all of the collabs I have done, I’ve only had to pitch myself to one brand. The rest have reached out to me– offering to send products, and some of them have even paid me for helping to promote their brands!

I really only blog because it’s a fun project for me and a way for me to have a creative outlet. The paid stuff is all fluff and icing. And of course, my blog also acts as a way to keep my friends and family up to date with pictures of my family. Kind of like a scrapbook type thing. But as this blog has grown, I’ve started to turn the focus more toward fashion and lifestyle– because, let’s be real, there are few things I enjoy more than being materialistic and socializing.

I’m working on a blogging how-to series, and I’m really excited about it! I’ve got so many tips and so much info for anyone that wants to start a blog but doesn’t know where to start. There’s so many different facets to blogging, and it can get totally overwhelming, but I’ve been keeping track of everything I’ve learned since I started (mostly via trial and error), and I am more than happy to share this with anyone who wants to hear it.

But in the meantime, I’ve been in a bit of a blogging rut. I’ve got a lot of collabs going on, and I’ve got more in the works, but I’ve kind of been missing out on family time, and that’s not okay. I don’t want my kids to think I’m on my phone all the time. When I’m around them, I want to be totally present and in the moment. Unplugging is just better for all of us. That’s where I’m trying to get to– to a point where I have scheduled¬†“work hours,” and then the rest of the day/night, I can just focus on momming and being present. With everything going on with blogging, appointments, building a house, medical school graduation, birthdays, anniversaries, Jenny Lind stuff, play dates, dates, and just life in general, it’s just hard to come to that balance. I know I’ll find it, but for the time being, I’m just winging it. And drowning…

But this weekend I’m going to a Style Collective brunch in Charleston to meet some fabulous southern blogger babes, so that will be super fun! I’m so excited to meet some of these girls in person and just network. Social media is a beautiful thing, y’all. It makes the world so small, and I just love it.

After that, I think I’m going to pack up the family and head out to the river. Without my phone. A day of being unplugged and hanging out with my boys might be just what I need. Plus, I’ll take any excuse to wear this adorable swimsuit again! Palm leaf perfection, y’all. It’s less than $20, and I’d recommend sizing up (especially if you’ve got a nice rack…just saying).
